Four Clowns presents The Day They Hung The Elephant by Mike Funt June 21, 2014 in Newnan, GA BUY TICKETS June 21, 2014 at 7pm Coweta County Centre for Performing and Visual Arts Newnan, GA
Starring… Mike Funt as CIRCUS CLOWN Julia Davis as MARY THE ELEPHANT A circus clown recounts the mysterious and seedy tale of Mary the Elephant, a circus elephant who killed a man. Based on a true story, it happened one fateful afternoon in September of 1916 while Mary the Elephant was on her parade route near the railroad building town of Erwin, Tennessee. After heated debate as to the best way to kill an elephant, the town made Mary pay for her crime by hanging her from a train derrick. Our story is told from the perspective of the circus clown who was Mary's trainer, friend, and companion. The clown lives out the purgatory that has become retelling Mary's story over and over. This time, perhaps he tells too much...
